Video

The most time consuming part of the project was creating the video. I actually made a lot of it in software that then I realised had a watermark when I exported it, so I had to remake it quite quickly near the end of the project. First I watched a lot of the original broadcasts of the launch, moon landing, and splashdown and wrote down the timestamps of the important clips I wanted to include such as the famous quotes. This took a while as a lot of the broadcasts were over 5 hours long, and I needed to find the clips that would work to show the whole story in about 3 minutes. I then editted all the clips together in DaVinci Resolve and added music to the back.

Next I created the short animated title sequence. I did this by removing the background from my initial design in photoshop and then animating it using key frames in DaVinci Resolve. If I had more time and used software such as After effects I would be able to animate in more of an exciting way instead of it just flying from the bottom of the screen to the top.

Next I put my prints into photoshop to make them into PNGs I could use in the video. Once I had photos that worked I also blurred them slightly so that they didn't look out of place alongside the slightly blurry video.

Once I had lined up my text with the audio in the back I then rendered the video and exported it as an MP3. To make the video into VR I uploaded it onto youtube as that has an automatic setting for working with google cardboard.
